Furloughed?

Posted by

Yes, I am. I had my hours cut by half, plus I’m working from home. I know from the news that a lot of people lost their job entirely, which I’m so sorry for. I was recently hired on full time, so going back to part time wasn’t much of a stretch for me. I still have my books, which return a small dividend, and I have insurance, so I am blessed, even now.

Working from home affords me the opportunity to take out the garbage more often and strangely enough, I look forward to getting out of the house, if only for a few minutes. And my cat absolutely loves the extra attention I give her because I’m at home.

Anyway, there are any number of ways to work from home, below are a few of my favorites.

Have you considered writing a book? Like I said, I have my books and am working on a new one that should be out by Christmas if not sooner. Short stories are the fastest and romance is the best seller. It won’t make you rich but it does allow you to create your own environment for a few hours a day and provides your readers with a much needed distraction.

Are you good with graphics? You could sell book covers, comic books, etc, on any number of websites that allow you to post your templates and have people bid on them. What about your voice? If you have a strong voice you could audition for novelists who want their books on audio. Are you bi-lingual? Again, some novelists want their books translated, and will pay good money for it.

The internet, for all it’s problems, is a Godsend for people looking for work. Just be careful not to get suckered by crooks touting work-from-home gimmicks.

Just don’t give up hope, but do stay home, stay active, and stay well.
