My favorite past time growing up was reading books and watching the Carol Burnett Show. Books for the adventure, Carol Burnett for the laughs.
One of my favorite authors was Mary Higgins Clark. I began reading her books in the late seventies. She knew how to craft a suspenseful mystery that kept you intrigued until the end, and she accomplished that without gratuitous sex or explicit murders.
What made her writing even more unique was that her heroes were heroines. Women that I could relate to and aspire to be like.
She shared her gift with us and left the world a better place because of it. She will be sorely missed.
