Posted by Okay, now hear me out. I’m asking the indie authors this inappropriate question for a reason. When writing fiction you need to include how the character was raised, what culture they lived in, to their backstory. Maybe your character was admonished for peeing in the shower. Maybe they are shy or so poor that they’re saving money on toilet paper. The point is, try to find the quarks that your hero may not want made public, and make it public. Adds a lot of depth to the character and sometimes gives the reader insight that they probably were surprised by.
